About Tasbuilt Homes
Tasbuilt Homes is Tasmania’s leading manufacturer of prefabricated modular homes and commercial buildings. Their markets for residential homes include homeowners and accommodation buildings for the mining, earthmoving, infrastructure, and tourism sectors. For commercial buildings, they provide site offices, classrooms, amenity blocks, change rooms, and control rooms for government and private clients in the education, infrastructure, mining, and defense sectors. Tasbuilt's residential and commercial buildings are predominantly (80%) constructed onsite at their Westbury facility and then transported by road to the final site, where they are craned into position onto footings and connected to services.
A Workshop Structure Where Tradition Meets AI
Jason Bresnehan facilitated the workshop using Evahan’s traditional tools:
F.AB. (Functional Area of Business Internal Analysis Prompting Tool)
SWOT Matrix with more than just a list of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, but also a strategies and actions section to summarize how the strengths will be built upon, how weaknesses will be overcome, how opportunities will be pursued, and how the risks identified will be mitigated.
This is explained in detail in the SWOT Analysis insight. What was different at this workshop was the utilization of AI, specifically Microsoft 365 Copilot, to enhance the three traditional tools and conduct a comprehensive SWOT analysis.
Leveraging AI in the SWOT Workshop
The use of AI, particularly Microsoft 365 Copilot, in this SWOT and strategy development workshop proved to be a game-changer. It not only enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of the strategic planning process but also fostered a more collaborative and engaging environment. By leveraging AI-driven insights, businesses can make more informed decisions and develop robust strategies to navigate the complexities of today's market landscape.
Using AI to Power Your SWOT and Strategy Development
In today's fast-paced business environment, leveraging advanced technologies like AI can significantly enhance strategic planning processes.
Live Workshop with Copilot
During the workshop, we engaged the owners and senior management team in a live environment, utilizing Copilot to research current PESTECC (Political, Economic, Sociodemographic, Technology, Environment (Natural), Competitor, and Customer) external forces affecting the client's business model and the markets they operate in. The results were displayed on a large screen, allowing the client executives to see the insights in real-time. This interactive approach not only provided immediate value but also fostered a collaborative brainstorming session.
AI as a Brainstorming and Prodding Tool
One of the key benefits of using Copilot was its ability to suggest follow-up questions based on the initial queries. This feature acted as a prodding tool, encouraging deeper exploration and discussion among the participants. The AI-driven insights helped identify critical external factors and their potential impact on the business, leading to more informed decision-making.
Functional Area of Business (FAB) Framework
We also applied the Functional Area of Business (FAB) Framework to conduct a detailed analysis of internal strengths and weaknesses. For instance, we researched whether there were any large competitors with a business model similar to Tasbuilt using MS Dynamics as the ERP system. Copilot's ability to quickly gather and analyze relevant data enabled us to identify key strengths and weaknesses within each specific functional area of the business and seed ideas on how we could build upon these strengths and overcome the weaknesses.
