Evahan Assists AJL Marine Servies with its Inaugural ISO 9001 Certification
Evahan assisted the Melbourne based company, AJL Marine Services, with the inaugural ISO 9001 Certification of its Quality Management System (QMS) across its three shipping services locations in Truganina and Port Melbourne Victoria and Devonport, Tasmania. AJL Marine Services provides three main services:
Programmed refurbishment and rapid changeover (less than 12 hours) of The Spirt of Tasmania I and Sprit of Tasmania II passenger and freight ferries owned by TT Line, a Government Business Unit (GBE) of the Tasmanian Government
Programmed paint Maintenace for a multi-national's Bass Strait cargo shipping fleet
Customized reactive repairs including marine class welding repairs for Australian and internationally flagged ships in Ports across Australia's eastern seaboard
Evahan Managing Director and Principal Consultant, Jason Bresnehan, led AJL's senior management team through Evahan's propriety 27 Element QMS Framework to:
Design, develop, document, implement and evaluate its QMS
Prepare the company for the inaugural ISO 9001 Certification of its QMS
Implement of a program of QMS continual improvement
The 27 Element QMS Framework consisting of over 150 analysis and action points checks was applied for:
Scoping - assess and investigate the size of the project and provide a fixed price services fee proposal setting out Evahan's approach
Gap Analysis - analyze existing working flow, quality systems and quality gates so that they could be leveraged to avoid "reinventing the wheel" and reduce project costs by focusing on closing the gaps and making value-adding improvements
Challenges Navigated by Evahan Challenges navigated by Evahan:
Disparate service offering with disparate service systems:
A wide range of PQR, WPS and WQR for its marine class welding services, governed by international welding codes and independently verified by internal shipping register bodies such as Lloyds
Operations in three locations across two states of Australia
A QMS that managed time critical refurbished engine changeovers in less than 12 hours. If not complete the large passenger ferries do not sail causing significant logistical issues for tourists, freight companies and significant reputational and economic damage to the island of Tasmania
Project Outcomes and Value Added by Evahan Evahan achieved the following outcomes for AJL Marine Services
Inaugural ISO 9001:2015 Certification of its Quality Management System
A precise and clear QMS language and nomenclature creating work environment efficiencies, enhancing communication, team member collaboration and critical thinking
Increase in and improvement upon practical quality gates to manage the businesses inputs, processes and outputs
Improved upon the quality culture with particular reference to risk-based thinking, root cause analysis, calibration of measurement tools, traceability of marine class welding steel, nonconformance management and continuous improvement management
