Evahan Assists Stromen Gain ISO 9001 Certification of Its QMS

Evahan assisted Stromen with the inaugural ISO 9001 Certification of its Quality Management System (QMS). Stromen manufactures twin wall corrugated HDPE SN8 pipe with ribbed exterior and smooth bore interior across the diameter ranges of 100amm, 150mm, 225mm, 300mm, 375mm, 450mm, 525mm and 600mm, as well as 45 and 90 degree bends, tees, Y-junctions, eccentric reducers and side entry adapter for the same diameter range.

In addition the company imports 650mm+ pipe from an ISO 9001 compliant supplier overseas and manufactures slotted agricultural drainage pipe.

Evahan Managing Director and Principal Consultant, Jason Bresnehan, led Stromen's senior management team through Evahan's propriety 27 Element QMS Framework to:

  1. Design, develop, document, implement and evaluate its QMS
  2. Prepare the company for the inaugural ISO 9001 Certification of its QMS
  3. Implement of a program of QMS continual improvement

The 27 Element QMS Framework consisting of over 150 analysis and action points checks was applied for:

  1. Scoping - assess and investigate the size of the project and provide a fixed price services fee proposal setting out Evahan's approach
  2. Gap Analysis - analyze existing working flow, quality systems and quality gates so that they could be leveraged to avoid "reinventing the wheel" and reduce project costs by focusing on closing the gaps and making value-adding improvements
  3. DDDECCI - Design, Development, Documentation, Evaluation, Certification management and Continuous Improvement activities

Challenges Navigated by Evahan
Challenges navigated by Evahan:

  • The Company had been in operation for only 6 months and this was the founder's and senior managements first exposure to ISO 9001 quality systems
  • The QMS needs to meet the requirements of AS/NZS 5065 - Polyethylene and polypropylene pipes and fittings for drainage and sewerage application and the Australian Buildings Code Board’s WaterMark Certification Scheme documentation
  • Ground zero starting point for all QMS documentation and the need to "join-the-dots" for what documentation did exist into a cohesive structured system that delivers on the 27 core elements of an Evahan style QMS
