RFQ & RFP Response: Supply of Hydraulic Package to Hanwha Defense Australia

The sub-assemblies within the package included rapid deployment troop door and ramp cylinders, a manifold and an aluminum hydraulic oil tank for the Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle which Hawwah will manufacture for the Australian Department of Defence.

Request for Tender Response to Manufacture 880 Tailgate Cylinders, 440 Hydraulic Manifolds, and 440 Aluminum Hydraulic Oil Tanks

Jason Bresnehan led the bid for Delta Australia to provide a comprehensive RFP response for the manufacture of hydraulic cylinders and manifolds for 440 Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs).

This RFP response was part of Hanwha Defence Australia’s proposal to manufacture 440 armored personnel carriers for the Australian Government Department of Defence under the Australian Defence Forces’ Land 400 Project. Hanwha Defence Australia is a subsidiary of South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace, which has a market capitalization of USD $2.5 billion.

The RFP response included detailed information about the company, its financial position, background experience, and resources. It also covered design and manufacturing capabilities, machine resources, capacity planning analysis, technical and corporate capabilities, experience with multinational and defense segment customers, certifications, and planning for Estimated Annual Demand (EAD) volumes.

Project Outcomes and Value Added by Jason

  • Delta Australia successfully secured the contract to manufacture two tailgate (infantrymen door) hydraulic cylinders, manifolds, and oil tanks for each machine that Hanwha would build under the program.
     
  • Jason consolidated all of Delta's RFP documentation, streamlining the process to ensure that future RFP responses would be easier to prepare.
     
  • Building on this success, Delta Hydraulics is now well-positioned to make significant inroads as a supplier of sub-assemblies to the defense sector in Australia.
