Co-Managing Director of Startup Investment Banking and Corporate Finance Firm

Peter Purtell co-founded Noble House Tasmania with Jason Bresnehan. Both Jason and Peter have been appointed as Co-Managing Directors. The investment banking and corporate finance company specializes in raising secured debt finance for SMEs and property development projects, as well as facilitating M&A transactions.

Mr. Peter Purtell, previously an associate director and treasurer of Hong Kong Bank of Australia Ltd, joined Tasmania Bank (later Trust Bank, and subsequently acquired by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia) to head its treasury division before co-founding Noble House with Jason. Peter has had a high-profile career in the Australian financial markets, including involvement in the Campbell Inquiry into the Australian financial system, which led to significant financial deregulation in Australia. On the back of this deregulation, Peter traded the first Australian dollar on the day it floated, December 12, 1983.

Peter executed the first trade at AUD/USD $1.015. Many years later, he remarked to Jason

I did not have the heart to sell the dollar down.

Post Script: Peter passed away on April 11, 1999, after suffering a heart attack at his desk at the offices of Noble House. He is greatly missed by his family, Jason Bresnehan, and the many others whose lives he touched.
