Elphinstone Quality Management System ISO 9001 Recertification

Evahan Assists Elphinstone with its ISO 9001 Recertification
Evahan assisted the highly successful Tasmanian company, Elphinstone, with the recertification of its ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) for its two Wynyard based divisions. Elphinstone's Wynyard based business divisions consist of:

1. The assembly of wiring harnesses for underground mining equipment OEMs such as Caterpillar, large agricultural chemical spray equipment OEMs and its own surface and underground OEM division.
2. The assembly of passenger buses for the Tasmanian Government - contract winding down to successful completion by September 2023

Evahan Managing Director and Principal Consultant, Jason Bresnehan, led Elphinstone's senior management team through Evahan's propriety 27 Element QMS Framework to:

1. Prepare the company for the ISO 9001 recertification of its 2022 implemented QMS by undertaking an internal audit of the QMS as a whole
2.  Assist with the closing of minor nonconformances identified by Evahan in the internal audit
3. Participating in and providing guidance on the day of the External Assessment by an accredited independent ISO 9001 auditor.

Challenges Navigated by Evahan
Challenges navigated by Evahan:

• Passenger bus business division phasing out within 7 months' time to be replaced with a defence division, manufacturing hull and turret chassis for armoured military fighting vehicles
   
• Elphinstone's acquisition of EZI Boots and relocation of the equipment and business to its Wynyard site. EZI Boots are polymer electrical boots and are manufactured from a high-quality plastisol formulation and they are intended to protect the cable harness at the connector termination point from elements such as dust, mud, dirt and paint. EZI Boots also provide support for the wiring as well as additional support for pressure washing and steam cleaning. Ezi Boot manufacture is based on a batch production workflow model, which was new to Elphinstone, and required the company to develop new procedures, work instructions and quality gates and the incorporate of these into the QMS
